17.7 miles

Today's stage is the longest, most challenging and hilly terrain through some peaceful forests and quaint villages. And if that isn't enough, there is a sharp descent of almost 2/10 of a mile at the very end.
Pilgrim scarecrows for a small home vegetable garden.
View of the town from the Camino.
Very cool misty fog cover in low-lying areas of the town.
Ascending and descending these rocks was pure torture.
We took a lunch break in Campiello and Matthew was in heaven
with his Spanish cider pourer that looked like a hookah bong.
After walking this stage for over 10 hours, I never thought I would make it to Pola. I was so exhausted at the end I looked like a listing drunkard. It didn't help that our very bare-bones hotel had a hand-held shower that I had to hold onto because the attachment for it was way out of reach. My hair dryer didn't work, and I could barely keep my eyes open during dinner - even though I just had a butter bean potato, pork soup and bread (only the first course and enough for at least 4 adults) too tired to wait for other courses I probably could do without.
You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it- but you do have some amazing views and photos as rewards.
